Carola Wijdoogen, the Corporate Sustainability Officer at NS (till 2/2019), has dedicated her career at NS to making their operations more sustainable. An example of a successful CSR professional, Carola wrote and released a successful book on CSR entitled “MVO doe je ZO”, to share her knowledge on the CSR profession and engage her peers. Her popular book, originally in Dutch, has picked up international notoriety and is now to be translated to an English version for the international audience.
With the success of her book Carola and Elfrieke van Galen began working together, not only to translate “MVO doe je ZO”, but also to conduct surveys amongst CSR and Sustainability professions to include new information in the release of the international book in 2019. Part of this 3 year long process was the Sustainability Conference in Berlin, the event The State of the Profession on 11th of September in Amsterdam, and now they are traveling to Belgium to share their knowledge, tips and experience as successful CSR professionals.
Lettimieke Mulder, partner at TheRockGroup Belgium branch, brought Carola and Elfrieke’s work to the Belgium CSR scene. In Belgium SHIFT is well-known as a meeting point for sustainability professionals where members come together to support and aid in the sustainability transition. SHIFT in cooperation with CSR Boosters hosted a CSR/ Sustainability event on October 23rd in Belgium and invited Carola and Elfrieke to speak at the event and give their survey on the State of the CSR/Sustainability Profession.
The event provided a great opportunity for international peer-to-peer learning and knowledge dissemination in the growing field of CSR and Sustainability. The information and data gathered at this event by Carola and Elfrieke will help them make even further strides in determining and advancing the CSR/Sustainability profession both locally and internationally.
