The 6th edition of “The State of the Sustainability Profession” (SOP) will be held this year on September 16th, from 15.00-17.00, with room to have a chat with each other afterwards. Last year’s online setting showed that it allows accessibility to the event for everyone, also internationally. Therefore, the 6th  edition will also be held online. What’s unique about this event? It’s half a day filled with discussions and workshops that enable conversations on a peer-to-peer level with sustainability professionals across different industries and countries – it connects us all through the denominator of the profession of sustainability professional.

Besides offering workshops and networking matching sessions, the State of the Sustainability Profession event 2021 also provides insights into the survey on the latest state of the profession as sustainability managers. The survey explores with you certain aspects of the sustainability or CSR profession in depth. Each year more than hundred professionals participate. Your experience is key. Are you in charge of embedding sustainability in your organization? Do you know how to engage your colleagues and senior management? To give answers to these questions and to understand the state of the sustainability profession we yearly conduct a survey. The survey gives insights into topics such as size and position of your team, salary, education, level of embedding, roles and competencies.

Last year we also included how COVID19 might have (and still does) influence your work. The results of the 2020 survey were presented and discussed on September 16^th during the State of the Sustainability Profession kick-off event hosted online together with Sustainability University.

We kick off the State of the Sustainability Profession 2021 event with a short plenary session, sharing the outcomes of the SOP 2021 survey. This year’s focus is to discuss and dive deeper into what keep’s todays sustainability professionals busy and what is their role in organisations? We also look at how far organisations are in 2021 and what kind of content keeps us busy. As the State of the Sustainability Profession Survey is an essential part of the event to make it as relevant for you as possible, please don’t forget to fill in the survey if not done yet.
